Community Service

VOCM Cares Foundation is committed to making a difference locally through our various community programs and services.

Buddy Bears Campaign

VOCM Cares is proud of the continued partnership with the St. John’s Regional Fire Fighters Association to host such a worthwhile campaign. Buddy bears are teddy bears that are kept on board the fire trucks of the St. John’s Regional Fire Department. Firefighters will use these bears when they encounter children who are involved in high stress situations such as: car accidents, structural fires, and the loss of life. The bears are given to children as a gift to help calm them, and lessen the impact of stressful and frightening events.

Happy Tree

The VOCM Happy Tree has been a Christmas tradition for over 50 years!  VOCM Cares and VOCM in partnership with the Avalon Mall collect toy donations to support the Salvation Army during the Holiday season.  Visit Avy the Elf and the Happy Tree inside the Avalon Mall to drop off your donation now.

Janeway Patient Support Fund

At VOCM Cares, our mandate is to raise funds for charitable causes involving health, education and safety.   We are happy to partner with the Janeway Foundation in creating the VOCM CARES JANEWAY PATIENT SUPPORT FUND.  This is a 5 year commitment; VOCM Cares will make a $20,000 donation each year.

Coats for Kids

For over 30 years, the VOCM Cares Coats for Kids Campaign has helped to ensure families in need have winter clothing for the colder season.  In partnership with Newfoundland Power, donations are collected in locations around the province!  And thanks to the support of The Village Shopping Centre, a free pop up shop will help ensure families get the winter clothing they need.  As the cold weather approaches, you can help be there for those in need by donating gently used or new winter wear.  Find more details about Coats for Kids 2026 with the link below.
