Spring 2022 Radiothon Roundup!
What an incredible Spring season for Radiothons!
Special thanks to dedicated VOCM listeners. With your help, over $665,000 was raised for five incredible organizations.
In March we started with the Health Care Foundation Radiothon. Over $70,000 was raised in support of mental health supports for first responders and the First Responder Psychological Safety Collaborative.
In April, $295,000 was raised to support an outdoor park and recreation space for Ronald McDonald House Charities NL. This project was identified as a priority by 95% of the families who previously stayed at The Ronald McDonald House. The new space, scheduled to open in the Fall, will include fencing, a barbecue and patio area, accessible playground and play area, family gathering spaces and a vegetable garden.
At the beginning of May, we hosted back to back Mother’s Day radiothons for two Health Care Foundations in the Central region.
The Central Northeast Health Foundation’s Breath of Life Radiothon raised $85,000 in support of a new Pulmonary Function System for the James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre.
Over $65,000 was raised for the South and Central Health Foundation Project Special Delivery Radiothon. Donations will help purchase specialized medical equipment to treat babies born in distress at the regional hospital in Grand Falls-Windsor.
We ended our Spring Radiothons with The Burin Peninsula Health Care Foundation Radiothon which raised upwards of $150,000. Donations will support the purchase of critical equipment, garden upgrades for the US Memorial facility in St. Lawrence and improvements to the dining room at the Blue Crest Nursing home in Grand Bank.
We cannot thank VOCM listeners enough for your generosity, and for helping us strengthen the health and safety of our communities across Newfoundland and Labrador.
VOCM Cares Foundation wishes you all a safe and happy summer, and we hope you can join us again for the Fall 2022 Radiothon season.
